Small Business Highlight-VAULT & VATOR
Are you tired of the same old bar scene every weekend? Are you looking to make date night a little more adventurous? Well let me introduce you to Joe, Darlene, and Kirk- the folks behind VAULT & VATOR- downtown Greenville’s first speakeasy-style modern cocktail lounge. They offer hand-crafted, made to order libations inspired by The Golden Age of cocktails during pre-prohibition and prohibition.
VAULT & VATOR, located at 655 S. Main Street, Suite 100 in Downtown Greenville, specializes in craft cocktails in a cozy environment replicating a time when folks socialized with one another face to face. They also offer a well curated small plate menu that pairs nicely with their unique, hand-crafted cocktails.
Inspiration
Joe and Darlene Clarke (who also own and operate American Grocery Restaurant) and Kirk Ingram are responsible for this unique new cocktail experience at VAULT & VATOR in Downtown Greenville. The head mixologist, Kirk, has worked for Joe and Darlene at American Grocery Restaurant for years. They have had the idea for this speakeasy concept for a while and were simply waiting for the right space to come along. Once they found the space, plans started coming together. Joe and Darlene built and designed the space themselves, including the bar, back bar, table tops and bases, curating the lighting and sewing the velvet curtains, amongst other items.
Why Greenville?
Both Joe and Darlene Clarke were both born in SC. They spent many years in New York and LA learning their crafts and knew it was only a matter of time before they returned to the Upstate. In 2007 they opened American Grocery Restaurant
and now, ten years later, they have opened VAULT &VATOR.
Upcoming Events
VAULT & VATOR will be conducting cocktail classes at the bar monthly. They will also host tiki nights and specialty liquor nights where they will introduce customers to different spirits.
Think of VAULT & VATOR when planning your next event. They are available for private bookings! The Vault room can host 12-15 people or you can rent out the entire space, which can accommodate 42 people. These private events will be catered from the American Grocery Restaurant kitchen so there are plenty of options for delicious food beyond small plates.

Make sure you are familiar with the HOUSE RULESbefore you visit VAULT & VAOR. These rules are in place (and taken seriously) to preserve the concept and create an environment unlike most other bars in Greenville.
