Small Business Highlight – McConoughey Law Firm, LLC

McConoughey Law Firm, LLC

This month we are proud to feature the McConoughey Law Firm and the woman behind the firm in our Small Business Highlight series.

Rachel McConoughey moved to Greenville from Charleston in mid-2016 for her husband’s job with C.H. Robinson Worldwide. Due to the portability that accompanies owning your own small business, the McConoughey Law Firm moved to Greenville, SC as well. That’s right-despite the (843) area code, the firm is located right here in the Upstate!

About the Firm

The McConoughey Law Firm focuses on business and real estate litigation, trademarks, and drone law. A large part of the practice involves quiet title work with investors who purchase real estate at tax sales. The firm also offers small business services which Rachel really enjoys, as she is a small business owner herself.

The McConoughey Law Firm strives to provide exceptional service to their clients by communicating clearly and regularly. Rachel offers creative solutions. She is clear, flexible, and transparent in billing matters. She does everything she can to ensure client satisfaction. Trust and collaboration are the basis of her relationships with clients.

How it Began

Rachel got laid off from her job as a legal recruiter in 2015 due to a corporate merger. She wanted to go back to practicing law and loves the freedom and challenge of working for herself. She also likes being able to help people. Rachel says “It is really rewarding to have a client come in with a legal problem that is weighing them down and be able to tell them that I can take care of it. Seeing the relief on their faces is a huge motivator for me in doing what I do every day.”

Legal Advice

For anyone opening a small business, it is vitally important to plan and prepare with the end in mind. The McConoughey Law Firm strongly recommends consulting with a small business attorney before starting your operations to make sure you are protected and that you are in the best position for success, even if you encounter speed bumps along the way. Rachel says “a lawyer can do you a lot more good by helping to prevent problems rather than just reacting to them. Good legal advice is well worth the investment.”

Rachel also says that even small businesses that are doing well could benefit from a “check-up” visit to their business lawyer to review any changes in the law applicable to their industry, go over their contracts to see if they still apply to current operations and whether they could be improved, review their intellectual property portfolio for optimal protection, and talk over any sticky situations that could be mitigated before they turn into legal problems.
