Insurance & the Bible?

As you have most likely noticed over the years, car insurance commercials are everywhere. According to the National Underwriter Property & Casualty magazine here are the big spenders in the ad space.

  • Berkshire Hathaway (Geico) spent $935,100,000.00
  • Allstate $654,800,000.00
  • State Farm $608,100,000.00
  • Progressive $602,200,000.00
  • Nationwide $296,700,000.00
Wow! This is some competitive space and they are paying big bucks to get your bucks.

Every one of these advertisements boasts one thing, saving you more money in less and less time. Car insurance has become a commodity and a price war. Whoever offers the cheapest and gets the cheapest price wins. People talk about it among their friends boasting how cheap they got their car insurance.

Wait a minute! When was the last time you saw a home insurance commercial, when is the last time you went online for a quick home quote in 7.5 minutes. Probably never. You would never risk that large of an asset with some over the phone company. It’s my home, this is important stuff and I should probably talk to an agent, is what most people think still.

Personal home and auto insurance is like the Bible. You can understand the basic principles pretty quickly after a few parables and a couple VBS’s. However if you start to read between the lines it’s time to check in with the pastor for some interpretation. The same applies to your personal insurance needs. Education is as much a part of insurance as the need to just have it. You could just watch church on the television every Sunday or listen to it on a podcast, but for some reason you find yourself in church and in community on Sunday morning.

Lets not forget what insurance is!

Insurance is the management of risk. What risks do you choose to retain and which ones do you want to transfer to an insurance company. No two insured’s are alike. We all face different risks and have different insurance needs. How is someone supposed to write you an insurance policy to protect you in 7.5 minutes?

Don’t pay the price for a cheap price. Talk with a local agent. Talk to us. Show up on Sunday.
